  • Medieval tower of Fidenza

    It was erected by the will of the Visconti family, then lords of the village, in the fourteenth century on a project by the architect Giorgio da Como; born as a fortress and gateway to the city for those who came from Piacenza along the Via Emilia. The tower today is the only visible testimony of the defensive walls built in the fifteenth century by the noble Milanese family. The museum set up inside the tower displays some of the finds found during the excavation works of the current Piazza Grandi and in other parts of the city.
